Putzmeister America Inc. is now manufacturing the new MX 43/47Z-Meter placing boom.

“The five-section MX 43/47 Z-Fold placing boom is the largest placing boom in the industry that does not require a counterweight,” said Jim Bury, director of engineering of Putzmeister America. “Not needing a counterweight saves our customers time and reduces their labor costs, which is a huge advantage these days. In addition, the placing boom takes up less space without the counterweight, making the job site less congested.”

Using the same maneuverable boom as Putzmeister’s 47Z-Meter truck-mounted concrete boom pump, the MX 43/47Z boasts a 138-ft. 1 in. (42.09 m) horizontal reach, and is ideal for demanding jobs such as high-rise buildings, bridges, dams, and other specialty applications. Like the 47Z truck-mounted boom, the new placing boom features more straight pipe for a less stressful concrete flow and longer wear on parts.

“The new MX 43/47Z offers our customers even more advantages,” said Bury. “Making it customizable to specific job site needs, this placing boom can operate with either a diesel or electric power pack.

The placing boom also can adapt to any lattice tower with a cross section of 7 ft. 6 in. by 7 ft. 6 in. (2.3 by 2.3 m), which allows customers to integrate the larger boom into their existing placing system equipment.

“In addition, the placing boom’s remote control can be combined with the Putzmeister BSA trailer pump controls, allowing one operator to effortlessly manage the entire placing system,” said Bury.

“As an added bonus, cranes are freed up for other project requirements because just one pick of the crane is needed with this placing boom.”

The new placing boom also offers two mounting configuration setups.

“In addition to the freestanding mounting configuration, the boom can also be mounted to tower set up in the inside climbing configuration supported by the building,” said Bury. “The unit easily climbs using the job site crane.”
