Red Wing Bridge Work Moves to Minnesota Side

Work on the replacement of the U.S. Highway 63 bridge will make its way across the river to Red Wing next week.

According to the Minnesota and Wisconsin departments of transportation, work on the temporary crossover and bypass is scheduled to start on U.S. Highway 61. Drivers can expect to see lane closures for this work on the Red Wing side of the MIssissippi River. Four buildings in Red Wing obtained to make room for the project will be demolished. And Levee Road near the existing bridge will be closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

On the Wisconsin side, causeway construction continues as does roadway excavation and temporary sheeting installation adjacent to Highway 63. Pile driving for the north abutment of the new bridge will begin, the DOTs said.
