Rogers Realty & Auction Company held an absolute auction May 26 for Bodford Construction in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Bodford sold its surplus equipment, which included excavators, crawler loaders and dozers, wheel loaders, road tractors, pickup trucks, trailers and more.

Clint and Bill Bodford opened Bodford Brothers Construction in 1953 with only a truck and a shovel. Clint’s daughter, Holly Newsome, became the owner in 2004.

Originally working in the residential market building homes, the company now works in the commercial market. The company has rich history in Winston-Salem, where it considers home. It has worked with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. doing grading and demolition projects, as well as worked in numerous neighborhoods, in and out of the city, demolishing houses and buildings and moving dirt and rock from one location to another.

Bodford Construction Inc. is known for its purple and white dump trucks, which distinguishes itself from other companies. The business chose to downsize so that it could focus on smaller grading jobs and demolition.

“At the end of the day, you have taken something that looks terrible and cleaned it up. It always looks better when we leave and that is a good day at work,” said Newsome.
