Remember the old Dunkin’ Donuts commercial? Fred the Baker would roll out of bed early in the morning and leave his house muttering, “Time to make the donuts.”

Good old Fred knew his customers were depending on him. These days, it’s Kevin Strainer who rolls out of bed early in the morning, saying, “Time to build the donuts.”

Strainer, owner of S&S Construction builds Dunkin’ Donuts shops throughout upstate New York, western Vermont and western Massachusetts. In the past 12 years, his company has built more than 70 Dunkin’ Donut outlets.

Construction has been a lifelong occupation for Strainer, who started as a teen and incorporated his own business in 1983. Today, the Greenwich-based company employs 12 to 15 people in turnkey commercial operations.

Strainer bought his first machine from Capital Tractor approximately 10 years ago.

“Initially, I went there for the convenience,” he said.

“I found I liked Capital’s equipment and they were so easy to work with that, after a year of so, I stopped even considering other dealers,”

Capital Tractor also helps Strainer finance his purchases.

“They make all the arrangements with New Holland Credit and always get me the best results,” he explained.

As an owner-operator, Strainer has bought a number of New Holland skid steers, dozers and excavators.

“It’s been my experience that New Holland equipment is comparable to, or better than, the competition and it’s a far better value,” he added.

“I have two New Holland skid steers that are the ’best on the market.’ Their speed and power is superior to anything else I’ve tried.”

Over the years, his New Holland equipment had held up so well that Strainer hasn’t tried to resell any of it.

“Sure, every machine has problems once in a while, but Capital Tractor’s service is terrific. If something breaks, they are right there on the spot,” Strainer said.
