South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford recently made a visit to JCB North American Headquarters in Savannah, GA, to see the manufacturing of JCB backhoe loaders. The plant is located off I-95 just south of the Georgia state line.

“JCB is a big part of our ongoing efforts to raise income levels and improve quality of life here in South Carolina’s Low Country,” Sanford said. “We’re going to continue to push for job-creating reforms like income tax relief that will encourage other companies to follow JCB’s example in becoming successful contributors to the larger economic development mission of our state.”

While visiting JCB, the governor took some time to take the controls of a new generation JS220 excavator.

JCB is one of the top five construction equipment manufacturers in the world. JCB was started in a garage in England by late company founder Joseph Cyril Bamford. Today, JCB is in its third generation and produces more than 150 different types of machines.
