Salt Lake City is now accepting pre-submittal applications for the Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The CIP provides funding to replace or expand public infrastructure. Residents, neighborhood group, community-based organization or neighborhood business district organizations of Salt Lake City can apply until Sept. 28.
The CIP is a multi-year planning program for capital improvements that involve the construction, purchase or rehabilitation of infrastructure including buildings, parks, streets, sidewalks, bridges, transportation features, traffic signals or other physical structures.
Here are some of the projects that were funded through CIP after applications were made by constituents:
Each year a portion of Salt Lake City's general fund is transferred to the CIP. The city prioritizes its deferred maintenance, or asset renewal, first and then considers new capital projects. Funding for new projects this year is recommended at about $4 million.
The CIP Pre-Submittal Application is the basic source of information required for all proposed projects. One Pre-Submittal Application must be completed for each project that is requesting to be funded. Here are the requirements:
Applicants must complete the Pre-Submittal Application and email it to Holly.Draney@slcgov.com by Sept. 28, 2018 by 3:00 p.m. Pre-Submittal Applications that are submitted after this date will roll into the next year's CIP cycle. You can access the Pre-Submittal Application form on Salt Lake City's website:
