With the addition of Precision Husky’s grinders to its existing Cat and Barko forestry products, Southworth-Milton Inc. is now a single source for the forest industry in the Northeastern United States. According to Bob Smith, president of Southworth-Milton, the grinders will be sold and serviced at all nine of the company’s locations.

Precision Husky’s ProGrind line of wood waste grinders are available as tub or horizontal grinders, with engines up to 860 hp (641 kW) and a production rate of up to 100 tons (90 t) per hour.

These grinders complement Southworth-Milton’s line of Cat forestry products and the recently acquired Barko knuckle-boom loaders. As a result, this Cat dealer has become a one-stop shop for all wood lot and mill yard heavy equipment, said Larry Cutliffe, marketing director of Southworth-Milton.

“Precision Husky has a well-established reputation for its forestry products,” said Peter Collins, Southworth-Milton’s forestry industry manager. “Its equipment is widely used among Northeast loggers and [the equipment] has a great track record for quality, reliability and performance.”

For 40 years, Precision Husky Corporation of Leeds, AL, has designed and manufactured equipment for chip mills, sawmills and wood yards for log loading and in the woods debarking, chipping and wood waste grinding.

Southworth-Milton has been a Caterpillar dealer since 1940 with a prominent presence throughout the Northeast, and a global presence in the used equipment market. The company serves the construction, materials handling, forestry and other industries through its facilities in Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont and eastern New York. In addition, the company has an extensive fleet of job-site service and maintenance vehicles and personnel.
