In 2011, Efficiency Production, Inc. — America’s Trench Box Builder — established the special operations shoring division, staffed by an experienced team of slide rail system experts and installers.

“The goal of the division is to use our engineering, manufacturing, and on-the-job experience to help contractors obtain work and successfully complete it,” said Ken Forsberg, president of Efficiency Production. “We created ’Special Ops’ to act as an extension of a contractor’s or municipality’s estimating department.”

The division’s primary goal is to help contractor’s obtain work. Special Ops accomplishes this by:

• Reviewing project plans and selection of shoring equipment

• Providing written quotation and 3D submittal drawings of the proposed shoring solution

• Conducting pre-construction onsite consultation

• Providing engineering services, including: tabulated data, P.E. stamped drawings, and site specific-engineering

The secondary goal of the division is providing onsite installation assistance. Speaking of the current and past personnel of the department, Greg Ross, Special Ops’ director and the company’s senior slide rail installer since 2005, said, “Adding up the combined experience of everyone in this room, I’m sure we’ve helped install well over 1,000 slide rail systems.

“We pride ourselves on being able to provide timely delivery of equipment and to respond promptly to unforeseen job site conditions,” he said. “Plus, we are able to quickly make jobsite equipment changes if required, and of course we are always available to answer questions; even after our installation participation is completed.”

Praise for the special operations shoring division has been glowing, with great appreciation from contractors for all that they do.

“Efficiency really over-performed with the quality of support they provided us, especially by sending out three shoring specialists who were here several days helping to install the system,” said Dave Garno, project manager of Lambertville, Mich., contractor JD Construction.

“We prefer to use an Efficiency [Production manufactured] slide rail system if we can,” said Joe Fischer, co-owner of Fischer Excavating, based in Freeport, Ill. “I usually have a few ideas on what might work for shoring on a particular project, but the first thing I do is call the team in Efficiency’s special operations shoring division for suggestions,” said Fischer.

“On one recent project, a special ops specialist came out to the site and we dicussed some ideas on how to shore two large pits for two new pump stations,” continued Fischer. “Then within a short time, the specialist sent us a clean proposal with CAD drawing of two slide rail systems that would work for both pump stations. And then it was just a matter of finalizing a plan.”
