Stafford is in the midst of restructuring its business model by segmenting into different divisions; each division with its own focus and management group.
The Stafford agricultural division, under the direction of Vice President Lonnie Ray, and the Stafford Construction Division, under the direction of Vice President Tim Tomberlin, have already shown the value of having stand-alone business units, according to the company.
With the success of these divisions to guide them, the Stafford management group announced its newest division, Stafford aggregate division. This division will be lead by Ray Henry, who joined the Stafford team in August as the vice president of the division.
Henry brings to Stafford more than 28 years of experience in the aggregate business and was most recently the vice president of Tennessee Alabama Crushing Equipment. He also has served on the board of directors of several crushing and screening companies.
To cover all markets that Stafford serves in the aggregate industry from a centrally located branch location, Henry will be based in the Lawrenceville branch in Northeast Georgia.
On Oct. 22, Stafford held an open house at its Lawrenceville facility to introduce customers and prospects to the new Stafford aggregate division. Folks from the industry came out to enjoy lunch and to gain more information on the product offerings from this new division. Manufacturer representatives were on hand to lend their support and provide “walk-arounds” of the various machines they represent.
In a discussion at the conclusion of the open house, Henry stated, “I joined Stafford specifically to spearhead the new aggregate division. This was an exciting opportunity for me. I was looking forward to coming in and to getting the division focused not only on the contractor business that they are currently working with, but also on the quarry business. Taking Stafford Aggregate into the quarries allows us to be a full line dealer for the contractors for their track-mounted machines, as well as for the quarries and their stationary turnkey set-up projects for aggregate production. I’m very excited to be with Stafford.”
Stafford now represents KPI-JCI and Astec Mobile Screens track mounted machines in the Tennessee and Alabama market. As of Jan. 1, 2011, Stafford also will represent the full line for this manufacturer, which will add the wheel mounted, stand alone and stationary units for jaws, crushers and screens, as well as the full complement of parts and product support.
Henry sees the recycling industry as the wave of the future for the growth of the Stafford aggregate division.
“With increases in demolition, contractors have an increased need to more cost effectively crush on site. This is a niche market that is growing and going to be here to stay for quite some time. We hear from some of our contractors that a tremendous number of mega demolition jobs are coming down the pike. With everything going ’green,’ especially in the concrete and asphalt recycling business, we are in position for tremendous growth.”
When asked about the manufacturers Stafford represents, Henry said, “I’ve known and worked with the folks at KPI-JCI/Astec Mobile Screens for a very long time. They are very innovative and creative and are always looking for new ways to expand their product offerings. I feel very fortunate to be linked with this manufacturer.”
Future plans for the Stafford aggregate division include the possibility of “brick and mortar” locations in Northern Alabama and/or Tennessee.
Henry added, “to ensure our current customers’ needs in Tennessee and Alabama are addressed immediately, we added another product support representative, Robert Taylor, in the Chattanooga area. Leading the Stafford Aggregate sales efforts by region is a group of individuals with many years of aggregate experience including: Darren Kirby in Virginia and part of the Carolinas; Arthur Leonard in South Carolina and part of North Carolina; Kelly Graves in Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee; and myself for the entire area.” CEG
