Stoltz Dual Auger Spreader Keeps Dust Under Control

Wed August 25, 2010 - National Edition
Stoltz

The Stoltz dual auger A2 site spreader, a dust-free dual auger style spreader, is a practical solution when dust control is critical.

The A2, with its horizontal slide gate, completely seals the hopper during filling, while individual dual-speed, deep reduction gearboxes provide low end power and high end output (up to 100 lb./sq. yd. at 1 mph).

By adding a mist system, dust will be eliminated both while filling and while spreading, according to the manufacturer.

The spreaders “double reverse expanded flow" air circulation drops most of the dust through the 157-sq.-ft. filtering surface before it exits the hopper.

Features of the spreader include:

  • External filter can
  • Internal pulse jet bag house
  • Sealed hopper
  • Easy, full access
  • Computer controlled hydraulics

Stoltzfus Spreaders

The company was founded in 1945 by Christian U. Stoltzfus in an old water-powered feed mill in an area just outside of Morgantown, Pa., known locally as Goosetown. Over the years, the company has operated as Broadfall Spreaders and Willow Glen Industries, and currently does business as Stoltzfus Spreaders. Its first products were truck-mounted boom-style lime spreaders, which were sold to other spreader truck drivers.

The company currently offers 15 different spreader models in regular stock. Stoltzfus also custom builds spreaders for sludge, cement, bentonite, seashells, recycled wallboard, etc., which have been mounted on trailers, trucks, half-tracks, barges and flotation trucks. It also makes self-powered units for pickup trucks and dozers.

The company markets the Stoltzfus spreaders nationally through a network of 25 independent dealers. Spreaders have been sold worldwide, including Alaska, Hawaii, Central & South America, UK, Africa, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and Australia.

In 2009, the company was transferred to the third generation and renamed Stoltz Mfg., LLC. The company is still within the extended C.U. Stoltzfus family.
