The Ohio Aggregates & Industrial Minerals Association (OAIMA) held its Annual Meeting and Trade Show Nov. 17 and 18 at the Hilton at Easton in Columbus, Ohio.

Educational sessions during the two-day event covered topics like hydrology and groundwater modeling, implementing and complying with federal rules for diesel engines, and a look at surface transportation reauthorization.

Local equipment dealers and national manufacturers along with product suppliers and service providers also were on hand to discuss new equipment innovations and product advances with attendees.

The event opened with a breakfast sponsored by Columbus Equipment Company and the general session began with opening comments from OAIMA President Dennis Phillips of Phillips Companies and OAIMA Executive Director Patrick Jacomet. The featured speaker at the event was Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who addressed Ohio’s economic concerns and future as well as issues impacting the state’s aggregate industry.

A reception sponsored by OAIMA and show exhibitors followed was held at the conclusion of the first day’s events and an awards breakfast, sponsored by Watson Gravel Inc. was at the start of the second day.

OAIMA is an Ohio trade association representing the interests of the state’s mining operations, with the exception of coal mining. The association serves those involved with construction materials such as sand, gravel, crushed stone and slag as well as salt, clay, shale, gypsum, industrial sand, building stone, lime, cement and recycled concrete.
