Students Can Explore Careers in Transportation This Summer

This summer students will get a free two-week overnight stay experiencing college life and gaining additional knowledge about transportation careers and the industry. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation Civil Rights Division is partnering with Oklahoma State University and the Federal Highway Administration to offer a free two-week National Summer Transportation Institute camp in Stillwater.

High schoolers will be able to build an outstanding resume while having fun. Students interested in technology, engineering, math, science and transportation are encouraged to apply. They will explore the world of transportation by participating in workshops hosted by Oklahoma State University faculty, state and federal officials. Students also will get to tour OSU's Flight Center, explore OSU's engineering laboratory, visit the Port of Catoosa, tour Tulsa Regional Airport and Central Tech Truck Driver Training. This valuable camp will benefit high schoolers interested in these fields and they will get to meet executives in the transportation career field.

National Summer Transportation Institute Camp in Stillwater

• July 17 – July 28

• Free tuition

• Space is limited

Students must be entering 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade, have successfully completed algebra or be enrolled in algebra for the upcoming school year and have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher to apply. Space is limited to 25 students.

Students will need to provide at least one letter of recommendation from a teacher or guidance counselor and express interest in any science, technology, engineering or mathematics higher education and/or careers. The camp is free of charge and will be a two-week overnight stay at the Oklahoma State University, Stillwater campus.
