Construction Equipment Guide

With a high capacity vertical silo, the compact Terex Bandit B12 MVR ready mix concrete plant from Terex Roadbuilding requires only a small footprint for operation, affording more options for site selection. Shipping from the factory in only five loads in its standard design, the Bandit B12 MVR comes pre-wired, plumbed and tested for fast onsite setup. Configured to meet the exact needs of the ready mix concrete operation, this high performance plant offers up to a 200 cu. yd. (153 cu m) hourly production capacity.

The Bandit B12 MVR can be equipped with round vertical cement silos, offering from 600 to 800 Bbl (69.4 to 92.5 cu m) storage capacity. A 4 in. (10 cm) fill pipe allows operators to quickly charge the silo, and standard 0.5 in. (1.3 cm) diameter air diffusers prevent cement compaction inside the silo. Suspended on three load cells, the 111 cu. ft. (3.1 cu m) cement weigh batcher is rated for up to a 12 cu. yd. (9.2 cu m) load. Cement is gravity fed through a 10 in. (25 cm) butterfly valve with adjustable flow control, so operators can accurately jog to spec.

A number of aggregate bin storage units are available to meet the producer’s production needs and mix design specifications. The standard three-bin unit for the Bandit B12 MVR features a variety of compartment and capacity arrangements. Aggregate storage capacities range from 47.6 cu. yd. (36.4 cu m) for the base unit to 118.6 cu. yd. (90.7 cu m) by adding 8 ft. (2.4 m) wall extensions.

The aggregate weigh batcher includes a total of three load cells: one positioned at the front of the bin and two toward the rear of the hopper, mounted at the sides. Air cylinders manage positioning of the 1 by 6 ft. (0.3 to 1.8 m) aggregate fill gates. The cylinders’ quick exhaust design rapidly snaps the gates shut, allowing for 50 lb. (22.7 kg) jog drops. The 30 in. (76 cm) wide aggregate conveyor travels at 370 fpm (112.8 mpm), offering up to a 400 lb./sec. (181.4 kg/sec) batcher discharge/truck charging rate.

Suspended by four load cells for accuracy, the plant’s water batcher quickly discharges the prescribed amount of water to the transit mixer truck at a flow rate reaching up to 400 gal./min. (1,514 L/min). Two, 3 in. (7.6 cm) diameter hoses carry water to the water ring. With 28 openings, the ring flushes the entire inside surface of the discharge boot with a 360 degree curtain of water. This design eliminates the need for a water pipe that chokes the aggregate and cement discharge area and is subject to high impact wear.

The Bandit B12 MVR’s wide discharge head design allows aggregate and cement to cascade freely for quick truck charging. Its 432 sq. in. (2787 sq cm) flow area is 20 to 50 percent larger than other units. The design reduces wear and maintenance from aggregate impact, resulting in a longer service life for the discharge head, according to the manufacturer.

A number of options are available for the Terex Bandit B12 MVR ready mix concrete plant. An available second vertical silo stores from 300 to 600 Bbl (34.7 to 69.4 sq m) of fly ash and features a durable screw auger design for discharging the additive into the cement batcher. The plant’s central dust collector incorporates 10 and 14 in. (25 and 35 cm) diameter tubing to pull particles generated by the truck charging process into a storage silo. These fines can then be sent to the fly ash silo for use in subsequent batches.
