The Terex Bid-Well 4800 paves a variety of standard duty flatwork applications with equal ease and efficiency, improving machine utilization and increasing return on investment. At a fraction of the cost of slipform pavers and more economical than laser screeds, the 4800 automatic roller paver makes quick work of slab-on-grade paving projects, including port decks, urban development roads, sewage tank bottoms, warehouse floors and parking lots, according to the manufacturer.

The automatic roller paver's adaptable frame design is the key to quickly paving complex slabs that flair or require variable or inverted crowns. To adjust from a perfectly flat slab, machine crown points can be manually set at any hinge on the frame, enabling the contractor to establish single or multiple crowns in the slab from +6 percent to -1.9 percent. The frame rides the rail on four heavy-duty, 6-in. (15.2 cm) diameter legs and eight bogie screed rollers, offering an 11.5-ft. (3.5 m) total span. "Our wide wheelbase helps to reduce machine pivoting from any slight deviations in the rail to help boost surface flatness," said Dean Johnson service manager of Terex Bid-Well.

The Terex Bid-Well 4800's 48-in. (121.9 cm) deep truss frame offers standard machine lengths from 36- to 120-ft. (11.0 to 36.6 m) for paving variable widths from 12- to 116-ft. (3.7 to 35.4 m). Standard 18-ft. (5.5 m) truss end segments offer up to 15-ft. (4.8 m) leg travel to each side of the machine for on-the-fly variable width paving, so contractors can vary paving width up to 30-ft. (9.1 m) without rebuilding the truss frame.

"Contractors using the 4800 have said they can pave twice as much concrete in half the time with half the labor force than paving one, 12-ft. (3.7 m) wide slab at a time with a vibratory screed," said Terex Bid-Well District Manager Larry Eben.

Additional Features

Powered by its own standard 23-hp (17 kW) Tier IV compliant gas engine, the 4800's paving carriage rides along the truss via a heavy-duty dual chain drive. Innovative dual spud vibrators impart vibration right up to the edge of the slab and consolidate up to 30-in. (76.2 cm) of concrete. The carriage's automatic pivot feature ensures that excess concrete is continually pushed forward by the two, 8-in. (20 cm) diameter rotating strike-off augers.

The 4800's Rota-Vibe system reconsolidates the top 2.75 in. (6.9 cm) of concrete, delivering a denser and more uniformly consolidated surface. Dual 5-ft. (150 cm) long finished rollers improve surface smoothness and feature independent rotational direction control to adapt to concrete conditions and enhance finish. The machine's height-adjustable drag pan allows operators to adjust the pressure applied to the concrete surface to provide a better seal.

The 4800 paver features a standard 5-in. (12.7 cm) paving carriage lift, allowing it to quickly pass over block-outs and obstructions. The machine also features variable automatic adjustable frame advancements from 0- to 17-in. (0 to 43.2 cm).
