The Texas Asphalt Pavement Association (TXAPA) held its 45th annual meeting on Sept. 17 to 20 at the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort in San Antonio.

Among the speakers at the conference were Bill Hale, Texas Department of Transportation's (TxDOT) chief engineer and Sam Salazar, TxDOT's occupational safety director. Hale outlined TxDOT's 10-year, $77-billion spending plan. Salazar addressed the issue of jobsite injuries, citing statistics that revealed that motorists hitting workers is the most common cause of accidents on job sites.

The event included TXAPA's Quality Asphalt Pavement Award ceremony and the Associate Member Expo.

Next year's meeting will be held on Sept. 15 to 18 at La Cantera Resort and Spa in San Antonio.

TXAPA provides full service for the needs of the asphalt industry including asphalt producers, contractors, liquid asphalt suppliers and other interested parties involved in improving and growing the asphalt industry.
