More than 120 customers and 45 dealer and manufacturer representatives turned out Oct. 12 for the Mack Trucks Inc. and Volvo Construction Equipment customer demo day at TL Edwards Quarry in Plymouth, Mass.
Customers were able to demo and operate a number of trucks and pieces of equipment. From Volvo Construction Equipment there were Volvo skid steers, backhoe loaders, excavators, pavers, compactors and wheel loaders, including an MCT135C skid steer loader, a BL70 backhoe loader, an L20F compact wheel loader and Volvo’s new G-Series loaders featuring OptiShift technology, among others.
For the Mack brand there were three Granite dump trucks, a Titan heavy haul tractor with loader trailer and a Pinnacle tractor with the new Mack mDrive automated manual transmission. These units were available for hands on demonstrations and ride and drives on the public roadways.
“The concept for this demo day was to show the strength of the Volvo Group and the capabilities within the group where we can take care of the needs of our customers,” said Matt Walsh, vice president of the Volvo Group.
“We wanted to spread awareness that the group can effectively work together for the needs of the customer through multiple product lines. Some of our customers cross between the brands and today we are showing them that we can effectively work together providing job-site solutions and to make doing business with us easy and effortless.”
Added Scott Shepherd, Mack Trucks district manager of New England, “We wanted to provide people with the real world experience. So here they are able to demo one of the Granite dump trucks in the pit or drive one of the trucks loaded on a three-mile ride and drive.”
Participating dealers included Woods CRW Corp., Tyler Equipment Corp., Woodco Machinery, Chadwick-BaRoss, Ballard Truck Center and McDevitt Trucks.
Guests also were treated to a catered barbecue lunch, giveaways and a raffle for two tickets to the 2011 Patriots/Chiefs game in Foxboro, Mass.
