Topcon Positioning Systems’ (TPS) RL-VH4 Builder Laser Series for use in interior and general construction incorporates GreenBeam technology that was introduced by Topcon in 1997. The series also comes with a red beam option.

The RL-VH4 series includes new interior lasers — RL-VH4G2 (GreenBeam) and RL-VH4DR (red beam) and general construction (GC) lasers — RL-VH4DR GC (GreenBeam) and RL-VH4G2 GC (red beam).

Tony Vanneman, TPS construction products manager, said, “In introducing the new series, Topcon wanted to provide contractors with high quality lasers, packed full of all the features contractors want, yet at a lower price.”

The interior series includes remote control, wall mounts and scanning targets. Using the interior lasers’ scan target, an operator, “can capture the beam and ’stretch’ it to any length, up to 180-degrees,” Vanneman said. “This creates a steady line of green laser light that is bright, stable and perfectly level.”

The series includes:

• SmartScan beam control with line drawing;

• Extended battery operation (up to twice that of other lasers);

• Electronic slope and alignment control;

• Horizontal, vertical, plumb, and 90 degree beam versatility;

• Remote control operation;

• Optional radio remote control; and

• Compact design with removable “laser guard.”

“Topcon’s GreenBeam technology quadruples beam brightness compared to ordinary red beam lasers,” said Murray Lodge, vice president of construction sales. “You never lose the beam, even in direct sunlight, and you won’t ever again waste time hunting for a laser beam on your target.”

Each standard RL-VH4 series package includes a hard shell carrying case, two magnetic ceiling/scan targets, heavy duty wall mount and rechargeable batteries. Optional LS-80B laser sensors designed to specifically work with GreenBeam also are available for using the laser outside for longer-range elevation or alignment control.
