Toro previewed its new RT1200 riding trencher at the International Construction and Utility Equipment Exposition (ICUEE), in Louisville, Ky., Oct. 1 to 3, 2013.

Scheduled for release in 2014, the Toro RT1200 riding trencher includes several features to meet the needs of utility contractors, including:

• Cummins 4.5 L, 121 hp (90 kW) engine delivers added power for faster, more productive trenching.

• Planetary gear reduction trencher drive that uses a flywheel, torsion shaft and planetary gear set to multiple torque for consistent trenching performance in demanding conditions.

• Tool carrier chassis design allows the RT1200 to be configured appropriately for each new job; contractors can choose from tracks or tires and several different attachments, including a backhoe, 6-way backfill blade, rocksaw, vibratory plow, reel carrier and trencher drive.

• Standard tilt frame that allows the operator to tilt the machine by variable degrees in order to maintain trench angle.

• Standard four-wheel drive and four-wheel steering for great performance in a wide range of ground conditions.
