Trailblazer 302 Air Pak Now Available With Battery Charger

Wed June 30, 2010 - National Edition
Miller

Miller’s Trailblazer 302 Air Pak welder/generator/air compressor is now available with an internal 12/24 V battery charger and jump starter, eliminating the need — as well as the costs and truck space required — for separate chargers or battery packs to start dead batteries on the job site. The Trailblazer 302 Air Pak provides equipment-repair, construction and structural steel professionals with a self-contained power source that welds at up to 350 amps, provides 13,000 watts of Accu-Rated generator power, 26 CFM of compressed air and, now, 450 A (12 V)/350A (24 V) of battery jumping power.

To extend battery life and help eliminate battery failure, the Trailblazer 302 Air Pak provides charging power (10 to 75 A, as set by the operator) until it senses a load from the starter. The jump starting mode is activated only when it senses a load from the starter. In addition, if the Trailblazer 302 Air Pak senses a battery with a dead cell, a poor connection or an improper voltage setting, it will inform the operator of the error rather than send a charge. The jumper cables use a standard marine plug to connect to the unit and are available separately.

The Trailblazer 302 Air Pak was recently introduced as the industry’s first gasoline engine-driven welder, generator and air compressor that meets job site reliability standards. The battery charge/jump feature doesn’t add weight or size to unit, which weighs only 771 lbs. (350 kg) and measures 59.5 by 20 wide by 34.25 in. high (151 by 51 by 87 cm).

The Trailblazer 302 Air Pak’s rotary screw air compressor delivers 70 to 160 psi of air with no storage tank required. It runs most air impact wrenches at idle and provides 100 percent deliverable air, which allows contractors to work continuously without worrying about air pressure. It improves air carbon arc cutting and gouging, and is capable of working with .25 in. (.6 cm) carbons (rated: 3/16-in.) for most applications. It also provides more than enough power and air to run Miller’s full line of portable Spectrum plasma cutters with a rated cut of 5/8-in. (.62 cm), according to the manufacturer.

The Trailblazer 302 Air Pak features a 30 hp (22 kW) Kohler gas engine and weighs 771 lbs. (350 kg). It occupies up to 50 percent less truck space and up to 25 percent less axle weight compared to using a separate engine-driven air compressor. It also lowers fuel use and simplifies equipment management, according to the manufacturer.

More Generator Power

The Trailblazer 302 Air Pak is a true multi-process machine that provides strong Stick, MIG, flux cored, AC/DC TIG, and air carbon arc gouging and cutting performance. It provides 25 to 300 amps of DC output for Stick, 10 to 300 amps of DC output for TIG, 10 to 225 amps for AC TIG/Stick and 13 to 35 volts (350 amps) for MIG and flux cored welding.

The Trailblazer 302 Air Pak’s two-generator design, one for welding and one for power generation, ensures that the welding arc remains stable when power tools are being used. Its 13,000 watts of Accu-Rated generator power (11,000 watts continuous) gives contractors more generator power. Running Miller welders, such as the Millermatic, Maxstar 200 and Dynasty 200, off the Trailblazer 302 Air Pak’s generator power further transforms this engine drive into a powerful multi-arc system to increase productivity while lowering fuel use and cost-per-arc ownership, according to the manufacturer.
