A new construction training program is coming to North Carolina. The state's Department of Transportation recently gave a contract to the Olive Hill Community Economic Development Corporation, Inc., to start a Highway Construction and Trades Academy in the area.
During an eight-week training period, crews will learn and meet the requirements of contractors who have been given road construction projects through NCDOT, The News Herald reported.

There will be an information session about the academy on Thursday, Oct. 5, at 6 p.m. at the Burke Mission Station, 305 W. Union St., Morganton, NC. Students can register for the academy then, or call 828-433-8075 ext. 244 or 244.
