Cashman Equipment and Wheeler Machinery Co., the Caterpillar dealerships for Nevada and Utah, respectively, have announced that they will be combining their technology divisions in order to offer customers more comprehensive services. Wheeler Machinery will rebrand its technology division, previously called SITECH Intermountain, to allow the name to be used for the combined business. The newly formed joint entity, SITECH Intermountain, will be owned and managed equally by both Cat dealerships with combined operations beginning early 2019.

Cashman Equipment's technology divisions, SITECH Nevada and Cat Mining Solutions, provide machine control and mining technology services for customers operating in its defined territory of Nevada and the Eastern Sierras. Wheeler Machinery's SITECH Intermountain operations also provide construction and mining technology covering its territory of Utah as well as several adjacent counties in Wyoming, Nevada and Arizona. Each company's technology services have proven their expertise in these areas, expanding exponentially in recent years with the technology explosion in heavy equipment.

SITECH is the global Trimble brand name for dealerships who distribute site-wide technology solutions to the heavy and highway construction, landfill and marine contractors. Cat Mining Solutions is a comprehensive suite of mining technology products designed to enhance mine site safety, reduce costs, improve profitability and boost efficiency. SITECH Intermountain will apply innovative heavy equipment technology to effectively solve some of the biggest challenges in the construction and mining industries.

"By strategically aligning Wheeler's and Cashman's technology capabilities, we can grow our best-in-class technology services in our territories," said Mike Pack, Cashman Equipment president and chief operating officer.

This stronger strategic approach to the construction and mining technology businesses will put further emphasis on existing and emerging technologies, equaling a more robust level of expertise for customers in the Eastern Sierras, Nevada, Utah and northwest Arizona. With these SITECH dealerships combining branches, products and services, customers will now have one supplier across two states with multiple locations for technology needs.

"In the technology space, size matters," said Jonathan Campbell, Wheeler Machinery's executive vice president. "As physical neighbors and past project collaborators, the decision to combine these two divisions was a natural one that will provide greater depth to both of our technology offerings."

The combined entity will be branded SITECH Intermountain and overseen by both companies. General Manager Joe Lewis of Wheeler Machinery will manage the day-to-day operations. Reporting to Lewis will be Mike Gary of Cashman Equipment, who will manage mining technology operations, and Jason Widdison of Cashman Equipment, who will manage the construction sales and support teams. Lewis will also oversee Darrin Cole of Wheeler Machinery, who will manage the construction service operations, and Greg Evans of Wheeler Machinery, who will oversee construction operations. All current technology personnel will be retained at both dealerships
