Construction Equipment Guide

The only thing that is constant in this world is change. Universal Impact Technologies Inc. has changed significantly since it was established in 1989. In 2002, it moved from Cumming, Ga., to Jasper, Ga., and sold and serviced three main lines: Universal Rockbreaker, Powersledge and Cyclone. Fast forward to 2007 and the company sold its primary product, the Cyclone, to Stanley. At the same time, it was appointed a certified Stanley hydraulic hammer rebuild center. It rebuilds Stanley hammers, including the previous Cyclone drop hammer line and also is a dealer for Stanley.

With the durability of the Stanley line, the company wasn’t able to keep its continuous flow of work as robust as it had been in the past. According to company president, Frank D. Smith, “Once we saw a void in the amount of work we were performing and a real need for a dedicated quality hydraulic hammer rebuild center in the Southeast, we decided to offer hydraulic hammer rebuilds on all makes of hydraulic hammers. We figured with our knowledge and long term experience in hydraulic attachments and rebuilds, this was a perfect fit for expanding on our business.”

Universal Impact Technologies provides parts, tools and in-house service for all makes of hydraulic hammers and has become a regional, “turn key” hydraulic rebuild center. It provides pick up and return service for select areas for all hammers in the 175 to 12,000 ft.-lb. range.

According to Smith, “We’re properly equipped to handle all phases of the hydraulic hammer rebuild process and all of our technicians are Stanley factory trained and receive continuous training on all Stanley hammer products.”

The company’s main service area concentrates primarily on the Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee markets and spreads outward to the Carolinas, Florida and Mississippi.

But according to Smith, “If the opportunity arises outside of these states, we’re on it.”

The company does rebuilds to new specs including new paint and decaling.

“We’re looking at our business in the realm of long term, not just for today. We want to continue to build a reputation of excellence where I personally stand behind all the services my company provides,” Smith said.

Universal Impact provides both parts and service for all hydraulic hammer product lines, including those obscure lines that are very difficult to find service and/or parts for. It also is expanding its parts and services on other hydraulic attachment tools. Recently, the company secured a complete line of shock mounts for hydraulic compactor attachments.

Smith concluded by saying, “When Stanley has a hammer that needs to be rebuilt in the Southeast, they send them to us. If a quality company like Stanley relies on us, surely others in the marketplace will take notice of the quality work we do.”
