The Utility & Transportation Contractors Association of New Jersey (UTCA) held its annual convention at the Tropicana Casino Resort Sept. 28-30, 2023, in Atlantic City, N.J.

At the convention's trade show exhibit, more than 100 exhibitors kept attendees busy touting their equipment offering and services.

This year's keynote address featured Sam Childers, a former outlaw and renegade biker, who today dedicates his life and resources to the rescuing of children in war zone countries like South Sudan and the Congo. Childers' life is portrayed in the movie Machine Gun Preacher, starring Gerard Butler.

During the keynote luncheon on Sept. 29, UTCA inducted Gerard Burdi, president of Union Paving and long-time UTCA of NJ board of directors member, as its 2023-2024 president. Also, Rolando Acosta of Northeast Remsco Construction was named the Robert A. Briant Sr. Memorial Award winner; Ronald Tobia of Tobia & Lovelace Esqs. LLC was named the 2023 Larry Gardner Memorial Award winner; and Thomas Anselmi of Anselmi & DeCicco was inducted into the 2023 New Jersey Construction Industry Hall of Fame. CEG
