JRB, a member of the Paladin Heavy Construction Group has released its new quick coupler for the excavator market.

VersaLoc incorporates a new concept in quick couplers that was designed to increase both productivity and safety. From a productivity point of view, the new VersaLoc features the ability to handle multi-pin spreads as well as various pin diameters. This gives the customer the versatility to change out a large variety of attachments in seconds, without leaving the cab, according to the manufacturer.

VersaLoc was designed to compensate traditional force loss by creating a lower offset. This repositioned offset improves machine performance and results in better breakout force. To ensure maximum machine performance, VersaLoc is designed with weight reduction in mind. This reduced weight allows for more force being available to the attachment.

When it comes to safety benefits, VersaLoc has a pilot operated check valve to assure the cylinder is locked in the case of hydraulic pressure loss. Additionally, VersaLoc features a detent lock on the stick pin that retains the attachment.

Additional safety features include a slide wedge that is retained on both sides of the pin. Mechanical lock arms prevent the wedge from accidentally being retracted.

From the cab, the operator has both visual locking confirmation as well as a fail-safe release procedure that requires the operator to engage the release button for 2 seconds while automatically sounding an auditable alarm.

VersaLoc is available for class 25, 35, 45-55, 70 and 100 applications. Hook widths range from 9.75 in. (24.7 cm) for class 25 to 17. 18 in. (43.6 cm) for class 100. Pin spreads range from 13.7 to 16.6 in. (35 to 42 cm) for class 25 to 22.4 to 24.9 in. (57 to 63 cm) for class 100. And finally a VersaLoc accommodates a pin diameter from 2.4 to 4.3 in. (60 to 110 mm). Please consult factory for other sizes.

VersaLoc has been thoroughly tested in both the lab and rugged field applications.
