Taylor Excavating & Wrecking Inc., a family-run business serving Chicago and its suburbs, specializes in working in tight downtown areas. So when President and Owner Tommy Taylor found the machine that worked best for these conditions, he went back and ordered two more.

Currently demoing two buildings at 1100 North Street, a commercial building and a three-story condo building (that was finished in January), Taylor Excavating purchased its first Volvo ECR235DL crawler excavator in 2013 from the local full service distributor McAllister Equipment Co.

"Shortly after we purchased a second one. In 2014 we purchased another ECR235DL because they are good machines in the tight downtown areas," said Taylor. "The machine has enough power to work in these conditions and we are very happy with these machines."

The ECR235DL hydraulic excavator is a short radius hydraulic digger that easily maneuvers in and out of confined work areas that include construction, excavation, slope finishing, landscape finishing, truck loading, trenching, pipe lifting and more. Some of the top features of the excavator include compact swing radius, Tier IV engine, a general mode with three speed stages, a spacious cab, easy service area and CareTrack telematics.

In addition to being very happy with the equipment, Taylor said he also was impressed with the quality of service he received from McAllister.

"McAllister Equipment Co. has been a great company to deal with and service-wise they are always on the phone when I need them," said Taylor, adding that none of the machines have given him any issues.

Taylor founded the company in 2001. He traveled from Ireland to the United States in 1999 and spent his first two years in the country working as an operator for another company before deciding to join Local 150 and progressing to his own company.

The company’s skilled workforce of 25 employees and specialized heavy equipment is designed to provide customers with safe, cost effective demolition and wrecking services in a timely and professional manner.

In 1955, McAllister Equipment Co. began meeting the needs of a broad range of contractors and other equipment users throughout the Chicago land area. Since that time, the company has expanded to five branches, serving more than 70 counties in northern/central Illinois and northwestern Indiana. As a full-service distributorship, McAllister Equipment Co. caters to virtually every segment of the construction, industrial, and municipal industries.
