Designed to keep productivity and uptime high, the EW240E material handler is ideal for applications requiring optimum reach and visibility.

Designed for the waste and recycling industries, the new EW240E material handler from Volvo Construction Equipment is a powerful and reliable machine for challenging work conditions.

"This is not an example of a manufacturer simply taking an existing machine and modifying it to fit a market. The EW240E was developed specifically for the waste and recycling segment," said Matthew McLean, product manager, Volvo Construction Equipment. "With a newly designed center frame mounted on a reinforced undercarriage with 9-ft. axles and extra-wide outriggers, the new material handler is ideal for medium-duty applications such as handling waste material blocks and loading and unloading scrap."

Built for Productivity

The 26-ton EW240E material handler has a 173-horsepower Tier IV Final Volvo D6 engine. With a straight boom measuring 21 ft., 4 in. and a 16-ft., 5-in. gooseneck arm, the machine has a maximum reach of 36 ft., 9 in.

Designed to keep productivity and uptime high, the EW240E material handler is ideal for applications requiring optimum reach and visibility. It is manufactured with a dedicated upper structure and reinforced undercarriage to withstand the forces in scrap sorting applications, according to the manufacturer.

Other key features include the following:

  • Cab can be raised more than 16 ft. above the ground;
  • Cab has double-damped cushioning to reduce noise and vibrations;
  • Equipped with arm-in limitation to avoid collisions between cab and grapple;
  • Factory-installed auxiliary circuits;
  • Available with grappling arm or gooseneck arm; and
  • Operator can drive up 12.4 mph using L8 multifunction joystick with Comfort Drive Control (CDC).
