Wacker Neuson’s 1.9 ton (1.7 t) compact excavator — EZ 17 — is the smallest zero tail model by Wacker Neuson and combines a compact footprint, expandable undercarriage and two-speed drive. The new EZ 17 provides maximum maneuverability and accessibility.

Wacker Neuson’s EZ 17 offers a maximum digging depth of 8 ft. 2 in. (2.5 m) and a bucket breakout force of 4,204 lbf. This new excavator can access hard to reach areas, such as backyard landscaping applications. The expandable undercarriage is adjustable from 39 to 51 in. (99 to 130 cm) to travel through narrow passages and gates. Once the machine is in working position, the undercarriage can expand to provide additional stability and lifting capacity. Additionally, low ground pressure protects existing landscaping and turf from being disturbed.

The EZ 17 is powered by a Tier IV Final, 17.2-hp Yanmar diesel engine that offers excellent power, fuel economy and quiet operation. The two-speed drive on this zero tail excavator allows the machine to travel up to 2.9 mph. The machine also features a LUDV load-sensing hydraulic system for smoother operation and improved performance when using multiple functions. This advanced system can deliver full power even with fine movements and it’s also more efficient.

The operator’s station on the EZ 17 sets new standards for reducing operator fatigue and increasing productivity. Even with its compact structure, there is plenty of leg room and the easy to reach controls are arranged for intuitive operation. The EZ 17 also features an ISO or SAE pattern control depending on the operator’s preference.

Like all of Wacker Neuson’s excavators, the EZ 17 is designed and built with quality components that contribute to the machine’s long life. An innovative cooling system allows the unit to work at full load in temperatures up to 113F (45C) and also ensures a low temperature level that significantly increases the life of individual components. Routine maintenance also is made easy with best-in-class service access, according to the manufacturer.
