The periodic maintenance schedule “to do” list for Wacker Neuson’s trench roller series has been slashed, saving time and money and increasing the units’ uptime. Improvements to the RT series have eliminated the need for several maintenance steps, essentially, making the rollers’ lower end maintenance-free, according to the manufacturer.
This maintenance-free lower end of the rollers includes lifetime lubricated drive gears and maintenance free exciter gears and bearing. There is actually no oil that needs to be changed. The rollers also feature a single piece body exciter motor. Wacker Neuson is backing its new design with a 5-year lower end warranty and 2-year warranty for the rest of the machine.
Wacker Neuson’s RT 56-SC-2 and RT 82-SC-2 were introduced almost 20 years ago. The 22-in. wide and 32-in. (56 and 81 cm) wide articulated trench rollers are operated with an infrared remote control. The smart control system uses a dual joystick for easy steering and the infrared signal with line-of-sight control provides added safety. Should the operator come within 3 ft. (.9 m) of the roller’s front or rear sensing eye with the control box, the unit will stop moving and vibrating.
