Wacker Neuson's 5.8-ton ET58 compact track excavator with conventional tail is the largest in the newest family of excavators that Wacker Neuson has designed on a common platform.

The 4.2-ton, ET42 and the 5-ton, EZ50 with minimal tail swing complete the trilogy of models.

Looking more closely at the ET58, contractors will find a well-balanced and powerful machine designed for heavy lifting. The excavator is powered by a Stage 5, 44.8-hp Perkins engine with a maximum digging depth of 13-ft. 2-in. and bucket breakout force of 6,474 lbs.

Wacker Neuson's design team focused on a variety of details that result in a highly user-friendly, comfortable and productive excavator, the manufacturer said.

The ET58 includes a standard, factory-installed hydraulic quick coupler. This productivity-boosting system allows the operator to easily change attachments directly from the cab. Additionally, the diverter valve on the auxiliary hydraulic line allows the operator to switch between an optional thumb and another attachment, such as a hydraulic breaker, without disconnecting the hoses, saving time between tasks.

The ET58 also features a load sensing hydraulic system that regulates the flow rate according to demand, providing consistent and precise control regardless of the load. The machine adjusts to the load and the joystick movements are always kept the same for the operator. The hydraulics work more efficiently, saving energy and ultimately costs as well as making operation easier.

The unique three-point bucket linkage system offers a 200-degree angle of rotation that combines enhanced breakout force with a greater range of motion. This increases the vertical dig depth, which can be helpful when excavating next to walls and can rotate the bucket further to keep the load more secure before dumping.

The demand for better job site visibility was answered through a series of design features. From where the operator sits, the boom is offset, and there is a lower-side glass window and sloped hood that allows the operator to see the front of both tracks, providing a complete view of the boom and attachment as well as the working area.

Further enhancing visibility for the ET58 are the large windows and the lighting package that includes LED chassis and work lights. Visibility is not just important for the operator, but also for others on the work site as well.

Wacker Neuson has incorporated an Active Working Signal (AWS). The red LED strip running across the engine hood lights up when the joystick is engaged. This signals to bystanders nearby that the excavator is ready for operation and can move at any time.

Inside the cab, operators will find a detailed working environment that is comfortable for a day on the job. Padded seat, ergonomic grips and plenty of foot room, including the floor that is designed to keep the operator's feet at a comfortable angle. The joystick and jog dial are conveniently located and include an electronic ISO/SAE changeover switch within the operator's reach.

Cab climate control includes standard air conditioning, but operators will appreciate the unique four-position windshield design that allows the operator to control fresh air in the cab for ventilation as well as improve job site communication.

The ET58 comes standard with a large, multifunctional 7-in. color display and a backup camera that provides an overview of the machine's functions and a safer view when reversing and rotating the machine.

Wacker Neuson's ET42 and EZ50 offer most of the same features as the ET58 but in a slightly smaller package. Due to the latest technology, emissions have been reduced and efficiency has been increased to save time and reduce operating costs of the job.
