Yancey Bros. Co., the Caterpillar equipment dealer for Georgia based in Austell, recently has announced the management promotions of John Faress and Kerry Glass. Additionally, Dan Suchan has joined the company as General Manger of The Cat Rental Store.

Faress was recently promoted to the position of product support sales and marketing manager at the company. He began his career in banking and commercial lending and joined the Yancey staff as a sales trainee nine years ago. His sales success soon led him to become the company’s first Building Construction Products (BCP) sales representative and eventually into the start up and management of the BCP division. He then went on to a management position in the company’s Rental Services division.

Faress assumed the position of general manager for five years where he helped grow the business to include a $30-million rental fleet, 65 employees and five locations. When taking on his new position, Faress also had the dual role of continuing as general manager of The Cat Rental Store until his successor could be hired.

Faress stated that in his new product support position, he thoroughly enjoys listening to his customers needs. “I have the opportunity to bring together the Yancey resources to structure a service program offering, centered around the customer, to meet their needs and to help minimize their operating costs. We are constantly dealing with different challenges, and at Yancey, we don’t take a ’cookie cutter’ approach to customer support. We cater our programs around the customers’ needs and are fortunate to have a lot of different tools, such as preventative maintenance, service, exchange components, Parts Express, a SOS Fluid Analysis lab, our new Rebuild Center, as well as others to help meet their needs. No matter how many machines a customer may have, we don’t have a ’one size fits all philosophy.’ When a customer puts their product support needs in our hands, we provide a competitively priced solution specifically for them.”

Glass has been promoted to general manager of Yancey Agricultural Products, the company’s new ag equipment division. He is currently based from Yancey’s Augusta branch. Glass has been in the equipment industry for six years, starting his career with Yancey as a sales representative for the Sandersville and Augusta areas. He later took on sales, parts and service management responsibilities over the same territory. His experience in equipment sales included calling on agricultural accounts.

Glass will be responsible for all parts, service and sales functions of Yancey’s six agricultural product sales locations, located in Albany, Augusta, Macon, Savannah, Valdosta and Calhoun. These locations have dedicated sales representatives for the agricultural customers to promote the Challenger and Fendt line of tractors as well as combines, hay bailers and a full line of farm implements. Glass noted that he’s seen a very positive response from the customers, who are excited to have an ag dealer with the quality service reputation that Yancey has established.

As The Cat Rental Store’s new General Manager, Suchan will be based out of the Cat Rental Store facility in Austell. Suchan previously worked for Hertz Equipment Rental for approximately 10 years in various management positions. Suchan assumes complete responsibility for all six of Yancey’s Cat Rental Stores, which includes locations. “I look forward to this opportunity of being a part of the Yancey team to help further the company’s success in the rental industry,” he said.
