Learning the American private enterprise system - and how businesses operate within it - was the top priority.
Thu July 18, 2013 - Midwest Edition
Kolberg-Pioneer Inc. (KPI-JCI) hosted approximately 85 South Dakota junior and senior high school students participating in the South Dakota Chamber of Commerce Youth Business Adventure (YBA) program June 20.
The mission of Youth Business Adventure is to help South Dakota high school students and teachers to better understand the American private enterprise system and how business operates within it. YBA also strives to showcase the business opportunities in South Dakota.
For nearly a week, YBA participants lived on-campus at the University of South Dakota learning about the American private enterprise system and how business operates within it. Each year, the program selects one local business for the students to tour as a way to showcase the business opportunities in South Dakota.
This year, program participants visited Kolberg-Pioneer Inc. (KPI-JCI) in Yankton, S.D., to tour the manufacturing facility and office. Kolberg-Pioneer Inc. (KPI-JCI) is a worldwide manufacturer of heavy equipment for the aggregate and recycle markets.
“We were very pleased to see Kolberg-Pioneer (KPI-JCI) highlighted as a successful South Dakota business for these future leaders,” said Joe Vig, president of Kolberg-Pioneer Inc. and group vice president of KPI-JCI and Astec Mobile Screens. “Students were able to tour our manufacturing facility and meet with representatives from each department, enabling them to grasp the numerous diverse job opportunities that are available at Kolberg-Pioneer Inc. and in South Dakota. We were proud to partner with YBA to help educate and inspire these future young business leaders.”
