Crane Rental of Orlando Florida Inc. put its new Grove GMK5240 all-terrain crane to work lifting bridge beams for Jones Brothers, general contractors on the Goldenrod Road extension project.

Goldenrod Road is being expanded over the Bee Line Expressway, a major artery, which is the direct route from Orlando to Cape Canaveral. Each beam weighs 255,000 lbs. (115,666 kg) and 28 beams are being set over a two-month period.

Crane Rental of Orlando began serving Florida in 1960 and now offers crane rental services on a nationwide basis. The Grove GMK5240 is the company’s newest unit and joins the other Grove cranes, which make up the majority of its taxi fleet.

Crane Rentals’ 15 Grove cranes include rough terrain, hydraulic truck and all-terrain units and are part of a 55-machine fleet, which also includes conventional crawlers, conventional truck, crawler tower and heavy-lift ringer cranes, forklifts and tractor trailers for heavy rigging and hauling.

The Grove GMK5240 all-terrain crane is rated at 240- ton (200 t) lift capacity, and features a standard boom length of 197 ft. (60 m) and maximum tip height of 322 ft. (98 m). All-wheel steering and multiple steering modes provide job-site mobility while Grove’s MegaTrak suspension system enhances driveability and traction both on and off-road. The machine also features the Twin-Lock single-cylinder boom extension and locking system as well as tiltable cab.
